Privacy notice

We collect only what we need, and you control what others see.

Last updated October 2026. Questions? Reach us through the contact page.

What we collect

Email, display name, password (securely hashed), an 18+ confirmation, policy acceptance, and optional profile details like interests, languages, timezone and country.

What we never make public

Your email, birth information and security data are never shown on your profile. You choose whether you appear in the member directory.

How we use data

To run your account, show relevant groups and events, send essential notices and optional digests you choose, and measure aggregate outcomes without identifying you.

Your rights

From Settings you can export your data and request account deletion. Contact us for corrections or questions.

Retention

Deleted accounts are processed within the stated period; limited records may be retained where safety or law requires.

Who we are

Global Youth Network (GYN) ("GYN", "we") runs this website and member platform. This notice explains what personal information we handle when you visit, join or take part, and the choices you have.

Legal basis

We process account data to provide the service you asked for, safety and moderation data because of our legitimate interest in keeping members safe, and marketing emails only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

Who can see your information

Other members see only your public profile fields, and only if you choose to appear in the directory. Staff see what they need to run events, review reports and issue certificates. We never sell your data.

Service providers

We use trusted providers for hosting, database, sign-in and email delivery. They process data only on our instructions and under contracts that protect it.

International transfers

GYN is a global community, so your data may be stored or processed outside your country. We use providers with recognised safeguards for international transfers.

Security

Passwords are hashed, data is encrypted in transit, access is limited by role, staff use two-step verification, and sensitive staff actions are logged.

Children

The pilot is for adults aged 18 and over. If we learn an account belongs to someone under 18, we close it and delete its data.

Contact and complaints

Questions or requests about your data can be sent through our contact page. We aim to reply within 30 days. You can also complain to the data protection authority in your country.

Updates

We'll post any changes here and tell members about significant ones by email or notification. Last updated: October 2026.
